Eighth International Crisis Management Workshop (CrIM'14) and Oulu Winter School

The Eighth Eighth International Crisis Management Workshop (CrIM'14) and Oulu Winter School is held at the University of Oulu (Finland) on October 29th and October 30th 2014. The theme of this years event is IT-Support and information analysis in crisis/disaster situations.

The social and economic well-being of our society increasingly relies on services provided by different types of infrastructure. Those infrastructures face constant threats of disruption and destruction from both, man-made threats (accidental or intentional) and natural hazards. Protecting infrastructure from all kinds of hazards is an up to date topic in the current and on-going research of a variety of different research areas. Infrastructure protection requires a multitude of protection strategies, ranging from the time frames before, during as well as after a crisis/disaster situations. The focus of this workshop lies in presenting work related to IT-Support strategies for crisis/disaster management in the following crisis/disaster phases:

This workshop aims to gather experts from different research fields related to crisis/disaster management and to present current and future protection strategies relating to the phases before, during and after crisis/disaster situations.

Organisation and format of the workshop

The workshop is organized as a two day lecture series on October 29th and October 30th 2014. Students, as well as the interested public, are invited to attend these lectures. Please register to the workshop via e-mail to ouspg-crim@ee.oulu.fi – Subject: “CrIM registration”.

Students can receive study credits by taking an examination after the workshop. Registration for the examination is required before the workshop to ouspg-crim@ee.oulu.fi – Subject: “CrIM exam registration”.
