The Proceedings will be produced from camera-ready copy. To ensure uniformity of presentation and compliance with the publisher's requirements, the following instructions must be adhered to strictly. The papers must be written in good English that requires not more than a minimum amount of editing. They must be typed in TeX according to the style file attached, which should be typed separately under the name style.tex and inputed at the beginning of the paper file. The macros defined in style.tex are \bsl title, \bsl endtitle, \bsl author, \bsl paper (after the author's name), \bsl section, \bsl subsection, \bsl ack (for any acknowledgement), \bsl caption (for captions of figures---see below), \bsl refs, \bsl endrefs, and \bsl address. The maximum permitted length of each paper is 5 pages, including figures and reference list. Figures must be drawn on separate sheets, with adequate vskips inserted in the file at the places where they are to be pasted in. The caption macro in style.tex should be used to produce the caption. If available, TeX-embedded graphics-generating software (such as TEXDRAW) may be used. The papers accepted for publication after peer review will be divided into the following sections: 1. Analytic-numerical methods. 2. Conservation laws. 3. Hybrid methods. 4. Differential equation techniques. 5. Integral equation methods. 6. Vortex methods. Each author must indicate the most appropriate section (and a second choice of section, if appropriate) for his/her paper and send two hard copies of it and a disk with the TeX source file to one of the editors, as follows: C. Constanda (Sections 2 and 5) - Department of Mathematics, University of Strathclyde, 26 Richmond Street, Glasgow G1 1XH, United Kingdom. Tel.: +44 141 552 4400. Fax: +44 141 552 8657. E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org. J. Saranen (Sections 1 and 3) - Department of Mathematical Sciences, University of Oulu, Linnanmaa, 90570 Oulu, Finland. Tel.: +358 81 553 1738. Fax: +358 81 553 1730. E-mail: email@example.com. S. Seikkala (Sections 4 and 6) - Division of Mathematics, Faculty of Technology, University of Oulu, Linnanmaa, 90570 Oulu, Finland. Tel.: +358 81 553 2656. Fax: +358 81 553 2665. E-mail: Seppo.Seikkala@ee.oulu.fi. The authors are strongly advised to acquire an e-mail address (if they do not already have one) and make it known to the editors for urgent correspondence. They may also send the TeX source file of their paper via e-mail instead of disk. THE FILE MUST BE THOROUGHLY CHECKED PRIOR TO SENDING, TO MAKE SURE THAT IT WORKS WITHOUT ERROR WHEN PRODUCING DVI OUTPUT. Deadlines: Receipt of typescripts and files: 30 September 1996 Notification of review decision to authors: 30 November 1996 Receipt of revised version (if necessary): 31 January 1997 Because of the tight publishing schedule, papers that do not meet the above deadlines will, regrettably, have to be left out of the Proceedings. The Proceedings will appear in two volumes with different subtitles, and each published author will receive a free copy of the volume that includes his/her paper.
