Previous research

Mika Ylianttila has published more than 80 peer-reviewed articles on computer networking, peer-to-peer systems, mobility management, services computing and content delivery. In general, research has been focused on software engineering and multimedia communication in mobile and ubiquitous information network systems. Computer networking research considers overlays, social, machine-to-machine and peer-to-peer networks, as well as content delivery and services computing. He is now in new position at the Center for Internet Excellence.

Previous research topics (and some of them are still ongoing as MediaTeam Oulu reserch projects, where he is still Principal Investigator in these projects) have included:

Computer networking: overlays, social, machine-to-machine and peer-to-peer networks

  • mobile middleware
  • mobile peer-to-peer (e.g. P2P-SIP) protocols
  • performance evaluation

Current projects: Future Internet (TIVIT)

Past projects: DECICOM (Decentralized Inter-Service Communications) and Application Supernetworking (All-IP Applications Creation, Networking and Service Management).
