Research topics of Mika Ylianttila
Dr. Mika
Ylianttila is an Adjunct Professor (Docent) in
Information Engineering and Information Network Systems at the Computer Science and Engineering
laboratory and Associate Director of the
MediaTeam Oulu Research Group
at the University of Oulu, Finland. His research is focused on multimedia communication and information network systems,
including topics on overlay networking and technical performance; community management
and
user experience; content management and service architectures. More specifically, topics
include signaling, mobility and session management; communication and ser-vice
architectures; mobile peer-to-peer protocols; and extending towards topics on modeling
user experience and techno-economical analysis. More specifically,
the following topics are studied.

- signaling, connectivity and session management
Current project: DECICOM
(Decentralized Inter-Service Communications)
Community management and user experience
- decentralised group communications and sharing
- location and context aware services
- user experience and techno-economical analysis
Past projects: ExpeShare
(Experience Sharing in Mobile Peer Communities) and Application
Supernetworking (All-IP Applications Creation, Networking and Service Management).
Content management and service architectures
- aggregated and bundled multimedia
- metadata for collaborative multimedia
- service composition and service provisioning
Current projects: CAM4HOME
(Collaborative Aggregated Multimedia for Home) and PSC
(Pervasive Service Computing)
