CSE - Computer Science and Engineering Laboratory unites two former Labs

The Intelligent Systems Group, Machine Vision Group and MediaTeam Oulu have a new University unit, within to operate from January 19, 2010. Previous Computer Engineering Laboratory and Information Processing Laboratory will cease to exist and will be replaced by CSE - Computer Science and Engineering Laboratory.

The aim of the reunion and name change is to strengthen the teaching and research and improve the profile of computer science and engineering both within the University of Oulu and among our interest groups.

The Head of the new CSE Laboratory is Prof. Matti Pietikäinen in 2010, and Prof. Tapio
Seppänen from 2011.

Other members of the executive board are Prof. Timo Ojala, Prof. Jukka Riekki, and the Head of the Department, Prof. Juha Röning.

Altogether four research groups exist under the new CSE Lab. All of them are members of the Infotech Oulu. Besides of the three above mentioned groups, also a new Biomedical Engineering Research Group operates under the CSE.
