Introduction to digital image processing and image analysis.

7.Morphological image processing,
8.Image segmentation,
9.Representation and description,
10.Pattern recognition.


Realization:
Lectures, exercises, examination.
In laboratory exercises, interactive image processing is introduced in Matlab environment.

- Gonzalez R.C., Woods R.E.: Digital image processing, Second edition, Addison-Wesley, 2002, available in Oulu University library;

It is also possible to use the 3rd edition (2007) of the book, see this page. The 3rd edition can be bought at University bookstore or at online bookstores.


- Lecture notes, available for photocopying in the course material bookshelf of Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Tietotalo 1, 3rd floor)


- Exercise materials.


Prerequisites:
Basic studies of mathematics.

Exam:
The first exam will be held in December 2011.
Note that mastering all the material presented in lecture notes, lectures, and the exercises is required to pass the exam. Alternatively, the corresponding knowledge can be studied from the course book.
