Department of Computer Science and Engineering
Lectures:
On Tuesdays at 14-16 and Thursdays at 12-13 in TS128 (periods 4-5). The first lecture will be given on 10.1.2012. The lectures will be in Finnish (but most slides will be in English).
Programming exercise (Java):
The initial lecture (in Finnish) will be held on 9.2.2012 at 13:15 in TS128. More information at http://www.ee.oulu.fi/research/imag/courses/ai/exercise/.
Credits:
5 (points) / 3 (credits)
Lecturer:
Prof. Matti Pietikäinen (e-mail: mkp "at"
ee.oulu.fi)
Assistants:
D.Sc. (Tech.) Vili Kellokumpu, exam (vili.kellokumpu "at" ee.oulu.fi)
M.Sc. Valtteri Takala, programming exercise (valtteri.takala "at" ee.oulu.fi)
Goal:
To make an introduction to artificial intelligence, especially to the basic concepts and methods of knowledge engineering. After taking the course, the student will be familiar with the most important knowledge representation techniques and problem solving methods and understands their advantages and disadvantages.
Contents:
- Introduction
- Intelligent agents
- Solving problems by searching
- Informed search and exploration
- Constraint satisfaction problems
- Games (adversarial search)
- Logical agents
- First-order logic
- Inference in first-order logic
- Planning (Ch. 11.1-11.4 of Russell and Norvig's book)
- Uncertainty (Ch. 13)
- Bayesian Networks (Ch. 14.1-14.2)
- Learning from observation (Ch. 18.1-18.3)
