Information Processing Laboratory

The Information Processing Laboratory is responsible for education in digital signal processing, information networks, intelligent systems and mobile applications. The laboratory carries out world-class research on machine vision, intelligent signal and data analysis, and distributed multimedia and mobile communications. The research concentrates on distributed computing, image analysis, image sequence (video) analysis, information retrieval, information hiding, language and audio technology, mobile services, packet networks, and signal interpretation.

The major application areas are industrial automation, medical image and signal analysis, mobile communications and multimedia systems. The research is carried out in three closely co-operating groups: Machine vision, MediaTeam Oulu and Intelligent Systems (of Computer Engineering Laboratory).
