OPTIONAL PROGRAMS FOR WEDNESDAY

Note: to organize the visits the minimum of participants is 10 persons/group.

 

1) Visit to Rovaniemi

We will make one day journey to Rovaniemi,  the capital of Lapland.

First we will visit Arktikum, Provincial Museum of Lapland and the Arctic Center. This visit brings us into the world of Lapland, its history and traditions as well as life and the Arctic environment. In "The Arctic in Change" exhibition the visitors can experience arctic climate in the cold room where information about ice and snow are displayed. Further more, visitors can comfortably lay down in a cosy theather and look at the waving northern lights.      

During the afternoon  in Santa Claus Village we will cross the Arctic Circle and meet Santa Claus himself at his Chamber. Souvenir shops, Santa Claus Main Post Office, glass factory etc are loceted there.

Before heading back to Levi we will  take traditional boat cruise along the lumberjack's floating route in a long wooden riverboats and will enjoy the beautiful scenery of the valley of the River Ounasjoki to a reindeer farm.  There we learn about reindeer herding and enjoy a cup of coffee in a Lappish cottage. We will also have a chance to participate the ceremony of crossing the Arctic Circle.

Duration: 11 hours

Price: 100 EUR   (children 60 EUR)/person

Price includes:transportation Levi-Rovaniemi-Levi, ticket, guided tour and lunch in Arktikum, visit in the Arctic Circle and meeting Santa Claus, boat trip, visit to the reindeer farm

Children's Levi

 

 

 
There is a weekly programme for children and youth in Levi. The programme events are all free of charge. Children under 6 years must be accompanied by an adult.
