04.07.2008 Wireless technology enables structural changes in health care
- A comprehensive concept for utilizing wireless solutions in the health care system, has been developed in the department of electrical and information engineering.
Due to ageing population, the western health care systems are under constant pressure, and in need for structural changes. The service processes must be enhanced, in which wireless technology offers inexpensive solutions.
Both national and international strategies for developing wireless health care have been constructed in the Wirhe project. A world-wide research material of the wireless health care products, services and solutions, have been collected in the project. In addition, 300 health care professionals have been surveyed around the world.
According to the results, a roadmap and playground for developing wireless health care solutions has been created. The functionality of the playground has been researched in different continents, for example USA, England and Japan.
Wirhe project has been funded by Tekes FinnWell programme.
