Eligible students

Applicants who have a university level Bachelor's Degree or higher in one of the following degree programmes

  • 1) Communication engineering
  • 2) Electrical engineering
  • 3) Computer engineering

are eligible.

However, the tight 2-year time frame of the programme does not give room for students to patch up their knowledge. Hence, the applicants for the programme are expected to possess sufficient basic knowledge in mathematics, probability theory and stochastic processes, signal theory, modulation methods, radio engineering, radio channels, signal processing, and programming skills. The applicants are ranked based on their previous experience on these areas, as well as study gardes, motivation, recommendations, and work experience.

Students who are on their last term/semester of Bachelor’s studies can apply to study for the WCE Master’s degree. Applicants with excellent academic records can be offered an conditional study placement. Those who wish to apply during their last semester have to submit a written statement by their home institution confirming the expected date of graduation. In the case that the applicant is accepted in the programme, he/she has to submit the Bachelor’s degree documentation before receiving the final study placement offer.

Grade limits

In addition to the above general admissions requirements, the applicants must posses

  • 1) either “very good” or “excellent” grades in Basic studies in Mathematical Sciences (e.g. mathematics, physics)

and

  • 2) the overall grade of the Bachelor's degree in Engineering should be "very good" or "excellent".

English skills

The student also has to be fluent in English. Formal ways of proving the language skills are listed at the link below

Number of students

The nominal annual intake of the programme is 20 students. A class may not be started, if the number of accepted students is less than 10.

Additional rules

Also Finnish students having a university level BSc and fulfilling the above criteria are eligible to the programme.
