Prerequisites

  • 1.Applicants must have a university level Bachelor's Degree or higher on a related field. See more detailed information on the acceptance criteria.


  • 2.The applicants also must be fluent in English. See more detailed information on language requirements.



Application Period

  • Application period for study year 2012-2013 is 21st November 2011 ... 31st January, 2012!



Application Procedure

  • 1. Take the language test
  • 2. Fill in the online application and gather the attachments
  • 3. Print the application form, sign it and send it with the attachments to the University Admissions Finland (UAF)

Note! General instructions for application documents, and requirements for copies and translations. All copies sent to the University Admissions Finland have to have a certified translation in English, Finnish or Swedish.
Notice also that there may be country-specific requirements for certification and delivery of documents you have to follow when preparing application.



Written Applications

Fill in the online application

  • The online application will be active from 21st November, 2011 onwards. Please follow the instructions given on the online application carefully.

Include the following parts to the online application

  • 1. Abstract of your Bachelor's Thesis (max 3000 characters)

  • Please fill into your application the Abstract of your Bachelor's thesis if a thesis is an obligatory part of your B.Sc. degree (in English, max 3 000 characters). If your B.Sc. degree does not include an obligatory written Bachelor’s thesis indicate it clearly by typing “My B.Sc. degree does not include a written B.Sc. thesis work”. If you are currently doing your thesis work but it is not yet completed, write a draft abstract describing its contents.
  • 2. Motivation letter (max 3000 characters)

  • Describe briefly (max 3000 characters) your motivation for applying to study in Master's Degree Programme in Wireless Communication Engineering (WCE). Your letter should entail the following: why you wish to study at the University of Oulu, reasons why you have chosen this particular degree programme, how your previous studies support studying in this programme, how you will finance your studies, describe all working experience you have in engineering , and how your possible studies at the University of Oulu would improve your future career and/or study objectives.

Send the application

  • After completing and submitting the online application, it needs to be printed, signed and sent together with the necessary attachments to the address: University Admissions Finland, Yliopistonkatu 2, FI-00170 Helsinki, Finland.


  • If you have recommendation letters (Note! not mandatory, but may be useful), they must also be sent along your printed and signed application to University Admissions, Helsinki.


  • Please note that all application documents must be sent to the University Admissions Finland address in Helsinki, nor to the University of Oulu.


  • The signed application form and the attachments must be received at the University Admissions Finland by 31 January 2012 at 4:15 pm.



Attachments to the Written Applications

  • 1. A copy of passport's information page or a copy of an official ID card

  • 2. Bachelor's degree certificate

  • a) Please attach copy of the Bachelor's degree certificate in the original language.
  • b) Where a language other than Finnish, English or Swedish is used in the certificate, please include a translation in English (by an authorised translator).
  • c) If you are on your last term/semester, i.e. you have not yet received your B.Sc. degree, attach a transcript of your study records in the original language. Where a language other than Finnish, English or Swedish is used in your study records certificate, please include also a translation in English (by an authorized translator).
  • d) Those who wish to apply during their last semester have to submit a written statement by their home institution confirming the expected date of graduation. Where a language other than Finnish, English or Swedish is used in your institution's statement, please include also a translation in English (by an authorized translator).
  • 3. University transcript indicating the grading system of the institution

  • a) Please attach an academic transcript of your Bachelor's studies. It must be an original transcript from the institution.
  • b) Where a language other than Finnish or Swedish is used in the academic transcript, please include a translation in English (by an authorised translator).
  • 4. A copy (copies) of higher degrees completed

  • 5. Recommendation letters (if any)

  • Please attach officially certified copies of other degrees or studies you have finished.
  • A copy of the Master's degree certificate in the original language.
  • An English, Finnish or Swedish translation of the Master's degree certificate.
  • A copy of the transcript of records of the Master's degree certificate in the original language.
  • An English, Finnish or Swedish translation of the transcript of records of the Master's degree certificate.



Submitting the Language Tests

More information on the language tests required

TOEFL and IELTS language tests must be sent by the test provider to the University Admissions Finland, Yliopistonkatu 2, FI-00170 Helsinki, Finland.

The TOEFL code is 3138.

Publication of the Results

All applicants will be informed of their results by air mail and e-mail in mid-April 2011. The results of the official selection will also be posted on the notice boards of the Faculty of Technology in April 2011.
