Outline

The Department of Electrical and Information Engineering at the University of Oulu offers an international 2-year MSc degree programme in Wireless Communications Engineering (WCE). The University of Oulu is located in Oulu, Finland.

The programme can take in 20 new students annually. The next term will start in September 2011.

WCE Content

As a graduate of WCE you will possess the essential knowledge on the design of wireless communications networks on the system level.

The skills provided in the Master’s Degree Programme offer a solid academic training that answers to the demands of wireless communications industry.

WCE Selection Criteria

Students applying for the programme must possess an applicable university level B.Sc. degree or higher in one of the following fields of study:

• 1) Communication engineering
• 2) Electrical engineering

• 3) Computer engineering
  
  

Besides these, sufficient basic knowledge is required of mathematics, programming skills, signal theory, radio engineering, radio channels, signal processing, and modulation methods.

Students who are on their last term/semester of Bachelor’s studies can apply to study for the WCE Master’s degree. Applicants with excellent academic records can be offered an conditional study placement. Those who wish to apply during their last semester have to submit a document which is their institution’s statement concerning student’s expected date of graduation.

In the case that the applicant is accepted for study, the applicant has to submit his/her Bachelor’s degree documentation by the beginning of August 2011 before receiving the final study placement offer.

The application period for study year 2012-2013 is between 21st November, 2011 and 31st January, 2012. Keep on eye this page for updated info.

Tuition Fee & Scholarship Programme 2012-2013

The tuition fee of WCE program for study year 2012-2013 can be found from the UO tuition fee page. Tuition fee depends on your nationality.

However, it is possible to apply Univeristy of Oulu International Master's Scholarship that covers the tuition fee totally. Detailed terms of the UO scholarship, and how to apply can be found from the UO International Master's Scholarships Programme 2012-2013 page.
